Starting from $1975+ Room Only

Detroit is the largest city in the Midwestern state of Michigan. Near Downtown, the neoclassical Detroit Institute of Arts is famed for the Detroit Industry Murals painted by Diego Rivera, and inspired by the city’s ties to the auto industry, giving it the nickname "Motor City." Detroit is also the birthplace of Motown Records, whose chart-topping history is on display at their original headquarters, Hitsville U.S.A.

SPECTACULAR LOCATION IN DOWNTOWN

The location of the hotel can't be beat. It's at most a two minute walk to The Fillmore. A three minute walk to Hudson Cafe, which I highly suggest as a brunch spot if you're in downtown Detroit. The main entrance to the hotel is just off of Woodward Ave with all of the shops, and caddy corner to Tigers Stadium. Little Caesar's Arena is right down the street as well.

AIt's all about location in Detroit, and the Aloft Detroit places you at the center of it all. Overlooking Grand Circus Park, this chic hotel is a 2-minute walk from Detroit Opera House and 1.4 miles from the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit.

This Starwood property is definitely in a league of it's own. Pretty much 5 minutes from every major venue Comerica, Ford Field, Fox Theatre, new Little Caesars arena, and Detroit Opera House. Greektown is a 3 minute ride away on the People Mover which is connected to the hotel.

Contemporary rooms have flat-screen TVs with plug-and-play hubs, free WiFi and desks with ergonomic chairs. They also include coffeemakers and minifridges, while bathrooms feature walk-in showers and designer toiletries. Kids are welcomed with air mattresses, bedding and goodie bags. Dogs receive beds, treats and toys (fee).
There's an airy lobby lounge with billiards, a trendy cocktail bar serving snacks, and a 24/7 fitness center. A business center and 8 meeting rooms are available.

Anna S
"I was sadly only in Detroit for 1 day, but Pat's wonderful tour made me feel like I'd been there for a week! In one afternoon, I learned so much about the city's rich history, while she introduced me to all the incredible and incredibly different neighborhoods. We visited the gorgeous riverfront, Downtown, Eastern Market, Midtown, Belle Isle, Greek town, the amazing Heidelberg Project, Third Man Records, Indian Village and Corktown. Her tour is so informative and so much fun - she obviously loves her city, and rightly so - what an incredible place. I can't wait to go back, and can't recommend Show Me Detroit tours highly enough!"

Detroit Institute of Arts

Detroit institute of artsFounded in 1885, the museum was originally located on Jefferson Avenue, but, due to its rapidly expanding collection, moved to the current site on Woodward Avenue in 1927. The Beaux-Arts building, designed by Paul Cret, was immediately referred to as the "temple of art." Two wings were added in the 1960s and 1970s, and a major renovation and expansion that began in 1999 was completed in 2007.

The museum covers 658,000 square feet that includes more than 100 galleries, a 1,150-seat auditorium, a 380-seat lecture/recital hall, an art reference library, and a state-of-the-art conservation services laboratory.

The DIA's collection is among the top six in the United States, with more than 65,000 works. The foundation was laid by William Valentiner, who was director from 1924 to 1945 and acquired many important works that established the framework of today's collections. Among his notable acquisitions are Mexican artist Diego Rivera's Detroit Industry fresco cycle, which Rivera considered his most successful work, and Vincent van Gogh's Self-Portrait, the first Van Gogh painting to enter a U.S. museum collection.

The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Tour

Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Front ExteriorThe Ford Piquette Avenue Plant is a former factory located within the Milwaukee Junction area of Detroit, Michigan, in the United States. Built in 1904, it was the second center of automobile production for the Ford Motor Company, after the Ford Mack Avenue Plant. At the Piquette Avenue Plant, the company created and first produced the Ford Model T, the car credited with initiating the mass use of automobiles in the United States.

Prior to the Model T, several other car models were assembled at the factory. Early experiments using a moving assembly line to make cars were also conducted there. It was also the first factory where more than 100 cars were assembled in one day.

While it was headquartered at the Piquette Avenue Plant, Ford Motor Company became the biggest U.S.-based automaker, and it would remain so until the mid-1920s. The factory was used by the company until 1910, when its car production activity was relocated to the new, bigger Highland Park Ford Plant.
